In New York City, three people were arrested at a rally after the death of an African-American man beaten by police
The police of New York City detained three protesters on Friday evening after a black Memphis resident Tyre Nichols died at the hands of police, RIA Novosti reported.
Earlier, police in the American city of Memphis released video footage of their officers beating a local resident, who later died. The policemen first stopped the car, dragged 29-year-old Tyre Nichols into the street and threw him on the pavement. The man initially offered no resistance, but then managed to escape despite a stun gun used by patrol officers.
The news of Nichols’ death after his violent detention has already sparked sporadic protests. In particular, there was a march in New York City on Friday. People carried banners reading “Stop Police Terror.
A video surfaced on social media of one of the protesters climbing on a police car and breaking the windshield with his feet.
“Three arrests occurred in downtown Manhattan,” police said.
