A new wave of protests in the U.S. will affect Biden’s rating, says a political scientist

Political analyst Bruter: protests after killing of African-American man will affect Biden’s rating

Protests that may erupt in the U.S. after the murder of an African-American in Memphis by police officers may have a negative impact on President Joe Biden’s rating, RIA Novosti was told by Vladimir Bruter, an expert at the International Institute for Humanities and Political Studies.

Earlier, Memphis police released video footage of their officers beating a local resident, who later died. Officers first stopped the car, dragged 29-year-old Tyre Nichols out of it, and threw him to the pavement. The man initially offered no resistance, but then managed to escape, despite a stun gun used by patrol officers.

The news of Nichols’ death after his violent detention has already sparked sporadic protests. In particular, there was a march in New York City on Friday. People carried banners reading “Stop Police Terror.

“I think they (the protests) are bound to have an effect (on the ratings). The question is, for Biden, more is already behind him than ahead of him. The sooner his party mates take this as a fact, the easier it will be for them to prepare for the next election. If they hang on to Biden, I’m afraid they’re just beginning to have problems,” Bruter said.

According to the expert, Biden now has “no trump cards in a certain sense.”
“There’s nothing that can help him,” the expert concluded.
